Bobby Mackeys, Wilder, Kentucky

Now a popular nightclub,it is very little known to incoming patrons that the land the building sits on used to hold a slaughter house. It is also considered to be one of the most haunted places in America. The location has had a long history of satanic worship. When the slaughter house closed, satanists would perform rituals and animal sacrifice there. In 1896, a young girl named Pearl Bryan became pregnant by a man named Scott Jackson. When Pearl was five months pregnant, Scott Jackson and his friend Alonzo Walling, while trying to perform an abortion, killed her and cut off her head. They dumped her body and took her head with them. She was found near the Alexandria turnpike. Pears head was never found. Police reports state however that after being scalped, her hair was found in a suitcase belonging to Scott Jackson. When the building was used as a slaughter house, the unusable parts of animals were dumped into a long trough that ran from the upper part of the building down into the basement. The trough ended in a deep well that people to this day call Hell's Gate. Rumors of the whereabouts of Pearl's missing head state that Jackson and Walling, during a ritual to satan, threw the head into the well as tribute. Both men had refused to reveal the location of the head and convicted of murder, both were hanged at the Newport Courthouse. One of the men supposedly threatened to haunt the area. Sightings of Scott Jackson's vengeful spirit have been reported at Bobby Mackeys. Pearl Bryan's headless ghost has been seen there as well. Another tragedy happened there in the 1930s. When the slaughter house was torn down, a dance hall was built on it's foundations. A dancer named Johanna fell in love with a singer, Robert Randall. Johanna became pregnant and the two made plans to marry. Johannas father, who was the owner of the club, had other plans. He had Robert killed. When Johanna found out she poisoned her father. Then she went downstairs into a basement dressing room and poisoned herself. She was five months pregnant. Several shootings occurred after that and the club was closed down. Bobby Mackey reopened it in 1978 as Bobby Mackeys Music World. Workers note that lights turn on and off by themselves and the jukebox, sometimes unplugged, will turn on and play "Anniversary Waltz ". Visitors have heard strange noises coming from the basement and people laughing and talking when no one was around. There have been full body apparition sightings. One is an angry man behind the bar thought to be Scott Jackson. People also claim to see a headless ghost moving through the crowd while the band is playing. She is thought to be Pearl Bryan. Many people come there hoping to catch a glimpse of the paranormal. There is even a disclaimer sign to patrons at the entrance saying that the establishment is proported to be haunted and management is not responsible for any supernatural occurrence on the premises. Whether stopping in to whet your whistle or to see Pearl Bryan search for her missing head, customers to Bobby Mackeys are sure to leave satisfied.
